Milen Chechev

Milen Chechev has extensive work experience in various roles in the field of data science and machine learning. Milen currently holds the position of Head of Data Science at Fourth, where they are responsible for leading the data science team. Prior to this, Milen worked as a Lecturer at Sofia University, teaching courses on Machine Learning, Recommendation Systems, and Data Structures and Algorithms. Milen also supervised Master Thesises and Course Projects related to machine learning.

Before joining Fourth, Milen served as the Machine Learning Lead at Ocado Technology, where they led a team working on ML research topics such as Bot Failure Prediction and outlier detection. Milen gained experience in handling big data with cloud solutions and training deep learning architectures and solutions.

Milen also had experience as a Data Science Lead at Adcash Advertising Technology, where they led a team of data scientists and big data developers for machine learning research in the field of online advertising. Milen was involved in building and utilizing Big Data infrastructure.

Earlier in their career, Milen worked as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon, focused on data-driven research and development for the optimization of the inbound process. Milen also served as an Assistant Professor at Sofia University, teaching and mentoring students in various subjects such as Recommender Systems, Data Mining, Information Retrieval, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Structures and Algorithms.

Additionally, Milen worked as a Senior R&D Engineer at Ontotext AD, where they led research and development projects in the field of semantic technologies. Milen also gained experience as a Software Engineer at Comsoft and as a Software Engineer contractor.

Milen Chechev holds a PhD in Recommender Systems and Social Networks from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, which they obtained from 2009 to 2014. Milen also pursued a Specialization in Machine Learning and Data Mining at Aalto University, Finland from 2010 to 2011. Prior to that, they completed their MSc in Artificial Intelligence from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski between 2006 and 2008. Milen Chechev's education journey began with a BSc in Computer Science from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, which they completed from 2002 to 2006.
