Jacob Chen has a strong background in academia and executive leadership. Jacob served as the President of Foxconn University from 2001 onwards. Prior to this role, they held the position of Corporate Executive Vice President and General Manager at Foxconn starting in January 2001. Before entering the corporate world, they were the Dean of the College of Science and Engineering at The University of Texas - Pan American from 1998 to 2000. Jacob began their academic career as the Department Chairman and Professor at the University of Houston in 1986, where they worked until 1998.

Jacob Chen received their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from National Taiwan Normal University from 1975 to 1978. Jacob then pursued their Master of Science degree in Industrial Management at Central Missouri State University from 1982 to 1983. Later, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, studying from 1983 to 1986.
