Christopher Simpson has over 12 years of work experience in the IT industry. In 2008, they began their career as the Director of Karma Computing, where they offered local computer repair services in a local village, including leaflet design, print, and delivery to promote the service, as well as successful door-to-door marketing and VHS to DVD conversion. In 2010, they were a consultant for Clinique De Beauté, where they were responsible for the online marketing and maintenance of their presence online, including defining a content strategy to increase visitors and revenue, and updating and maintaining their website with necessary HTML/CSS markup alterations.
In 2011, Christopher was the Core Developer & Relations for the Yorkshire Badges Project (social enterprise), where they were the sole developer of the website, and was responsible for database design and implementation, bespoke ecommerce website development, bespoke partner tracking system, and liaising with the designer to implement the design. From 2012 to 2013, they were with Expandier Ltd, where they helped find the most suitable, cost effective IT solutions, especially in start-ups.
From 2013 to 2018, Christopher was the Database Architect, Consultant, and Developer for Clothinglab, where they were responsible for full EPOS point of sale system design with thin clients, developing a mobile-first friendly website, hosting the website on an unmanaged cloud platform, database design and implementation, working alongside a graphic designer to implement design in HTML/CSS, setting up and configuring a mail server, and protecting the website against malicious attacks.
From 2018 to 2019, they were a DevOps Engineer for Open Bank Project, and from 2019 to 2021, they were a Platform Engineer for Capgemini. Finally, from 2021 to 2022, they were a Senior Linux Systems Administrator for Ripjar, where they worked with development and support teams to create ultra-scalable, flexible, and highly reliable systems, and was responsible for deploying, maintaining, and managing systems, services, and infrastructure, as well as automation of system provisioning, management, and monitoring. Christopher also had a role as Lead DevOps Engineer for FP Complete Corporation from 2022.
Christopher Simpson has a diverse educational background. Christopher completed a Bachelor's Degree in Ethical Hacking for Computer Security BSc (Hons) at Northumbria University between 2012 and 2016. During 2013 and 2014, they attended Hoschule Esslingen for an Erasmus exchange and studied Informatik, Networking, IBM DB2, Java, and IPv6. Christopher also obtained a Level 3 Diploma in Enterprise & Entrepreneurship Distinction * from Sheffield College. Additionally, Christopher has obtained several certifications, including Duolingo German Fluency: Intermediate (Estimated) from Duolingo in November 2015, Cisco CCNA4 from Cisco in September 2015, Certified Kubernetes Administrator from CNCF [Cloud Native Computing Foundation] in October 2019, and Certified Ethical Hacker CEH from EC-Council.
