Television and multi-media formats are vulnerable to plagiarism, theft and other anti-competitive business practices due to the widely held belief that they are not always protected by existing international legislation.

In many places, legal authorities consider formats to be generic program ideas, as opposed to original creative works that are, in fact, protected by international copyrights.

FRAPA exists to change that way of thinking, and promote a global understanding of the primacy of original format creation.
