John Glessner

EVP & Head, Investments & Capital Markets at Freddie Mac

John Glessner was named Senior Vice President and Head of the Investments and Capital Markets Division in April 2021. He is responsible for managing all of Freddie Mac's liquidity, financing, securitization, and derivative activities as well as managing Freddie Mac's portfolio of single-family securities and loan investments. He is a member of the Senior Operating Committee.

Previously, Glessner served as Freddie Mac's Senior Vice President of Asset & Liability Management and Treasurer. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing Freddie Mac's corporate treasury function, liquidity management and interest-rate hedging activities. He also oversaw counterparty credit risk activities and led efforts to offer secured lending to Freddie Mac investors and customers.

Glessner has been with Freddie Mac for almost 22 years – previously working in areas including the Securities Sales & Trading Group as well as the Collateralized Mortgage Obligation (CMO) and Cash Window desks. Prior to re-joining the firm in 2010, he held various trading positions at the Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group and GMAC ResCap.

He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia.
