Free Throws for Kids (FTFK) is a 100% volunteer-based nonprofit dedicated to bringing hope, comfort, and practical support to patients and families at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House—one free throw at a time.

Since our first event in 2014, FTFK has raised over $1.6 million, directly benefiting families facing medical challenges in our community.

Each spring, hundreds of participants gather at Lakota West High School to shoot free throws, have fun, and make a real impact. Teams of 4–10 people take on the challenge of collectively shooting 500 free throws—no basketball skills required (granny shots count!). With 40+ hoops, live scoring, prizes, and free feed, the event is filled with energy, laughter, and purpose.

Here’s how we put the funds to work to support families in need:
🏀 1,000 care packages given each year for patients and families at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, filled with comfort items and gift cards for meals and fuel.
🏀 $3,000 donated every month to the Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for over 177 families daily.
🏀 $10,000 annually granted to Cincinnati Children’s Liberty social services to meet urgent, real-time needs.
🏀 Additional funds invested in the FTFK Legacy Fund to ensure lasting community impact for years to come.
