Matt Barrie

Matt Barrie has extensive work experience in various industries. Matt served as the Chief Executive & Chairman at Freelancer.com, where they led the world's largest freelancing and crowdsourcing marketplace. As the Executive Chairman at Loadshift, they oversaw a global marketplace for freight, shipping, and transportation. Matt also held the position of Chief Executive & President at Escrow.com, a trusted third-party secure online payment provider. Additionally, Barrie worked as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Sydney and provided advisory roles at QuintessenceLabs and Julius Finance. Matt served as the Chief Executive Officer at Sensory Networks, leading the company's OEM network security acceleration technology. Matt started their career as an Investment Manager at Innovation Capital and as the Director of the Network & Systems Assessment Practice at Kroll.

Matt Barrie obtained their Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Computer Science and Physics from the University of Sydney from 1991 to 1994. Matt then pursued a Bachelor of Engineering Honors degree in Electrical Engineering at the same institution from 1991 to 1996. Afterward, they attended Stanford University in 1997-1998 for a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. In 2005, Barrie enrolled at Stanford University Graduate School of Business for the Executive Program for Growing Companies. In 2007, they acquired a Company Directors Diploma in Corporate Governance from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Continuing their education, Barrie pursued a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance from FINSIA in 2007-2008 and a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University in 2008-2009. In 2011, they attended Stanford University Graduate School of Business for the Stanford Executive Program. Finally, in 2012, they completed an Executive Program at Singularity University. Most recently, in 2022, Barrie was awarded a Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) degree from Macquarie University.
