Richard Bourgon has extensive work experience in the field of computational science and bioinformatics. Richard is currently the Vice President of Computational Science at Freenome, where they lead a team of computational biologists, machine learning scientists, and research engineers. Prior to this, Richard worked at Genentech for over a decade, holding various roles including Director & Senior Scientist and Associate Director & Senior Scientist in the field of oncology bioinformatics. Richard also has experience as a Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge and as a Staff Scientist at the European Bioinformatics Institute. Richard's academic background includes being a Graduate Student Researcher and Instructor at the University of California, Berkeley. Richard has also worked as a Mathematics Instructor at Thurgood Marshall Academic High School.
Richard Bourgon received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, from 2001 to 2006. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science & Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics & History from Brown University between 1987 and 1992.
