James Young

James Young has extensive experience in mine planning and engineering, currently serving as Manager of Mine Planning at Freeport-McMoRan since December 2003. Prior roles at Freeport-McMoRan include Manager of Engineering and Geology and Sr Project Manager for Engineering. Previously, James Young worked as a Mine Planner at Elk Valley Coal's Line Creek Mine and as a Short Range & Long Range Engineer at Compania Minera Lomas Bayas. Early career experience includes a position as Junior Mine Engineer at Gibraltar Mine. James Young holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining & Mineral Process Engineering from The University of British Columbia, obtained in 1997.
