Peter Byra

Peter Byra is a skilled metallurgy and mineral processing subject matter expert with extensive experience in the mining industry. They have held various roles at Freeport-McMoRan since 2018, where they currently serve as the Manager of Metallurgy & Strategic Planning and have also acted as Chief Metallurgist supporting multiple operations. Previously, Peter worked as a Senior Metallurgist and Mill Superintendent, overseeing mill operations and improvement projects. Their career includes experience at Newmont Mining Corporation as a Process Supervisor and at Barrick Gold Corporation as a Metallurgical Technician. Peter earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Materials Engineering from The University of British Columbia in 2006.
