Alexander Boxer

Principal Data Scientist at Freight Science

Alexander Boxer has held various roles in the data science and research fields since 2002. Alexander began their career as a Graduate Student at MIT, and then went on to become a Dibner Theirtory of Science Research Fellow at The Huntington Library in 2010. In the same year, they joined The Institute for Defense Analyses as a Research Staff Member. In 2015, Boxer began working at Atlas Obscura as a Field Agent and Areté Associates as a Senior Scientist, where they were responsible for deep learning data science applications on large datasets, especially computer-vision, object detection and localization. In 2020, they became a Lead Data Scientist at Enterprise Holdings, and in 2021 they were appointed Principal Data Scientist at Freight Science.

Alexander Boxer received a B.S. in Physics and Classics (Latin) from Yale University between 1997 and 2001. Alexander then went on to pursue an M.Sc. in Theirtory of Science at Oxford University (Lady Margaret Hall) from 2001 to 2002. Finally, they completed a Ph.D. in Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology between 2002 and 2009. In 2015, they obtained a Machine Learning Certificate from Coursera Course Certificates.
