John Simpson has a diverse work experience in various roles. John started their career at Nanyang Technological University as a Visiting Researcher, where they focused on nanobiotechnology and photodynamic therapy. John gained expertise in microscopy, HPLC, and cell imaging methods. John also developed adaptability skills by adjusting to a new culture and country. John then pursued a PhD in Imperial College London as a PhD Student, specializing in a yet undisclosed field. During this time, they focused on furthering their research and academic skills. Following this, they joined the University of Southampton as a Student, where they worked on a yearlong research project in biologically active amphiphiles. John gained proficiency in cytotoxicity assay techniques and lipid mass spectroscopy while enhancing their biochemical skills. Finally, they co-founded Fresh Check UK where they assumed the role of CTO. John'sresponsibilities included developing a color changing spray for bacterial detection. John worked alongside their colleagues Robert Peach and Alex Bond to make bacterial detection easier and more accessible.

John Simpson attended George Abbot School in Burpham from 2002 to 2009 where they studied Chemistry, Biology, and Maths at the A-Levels level. John then went on to pursue a degree in Chemistry with Medicinal Science at the University of Southampton from 2009 to 2013, obtaining an MChem degree. Following this, they attended Imperial College London from 2013 to 2017, where they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical Biology of Health and Disease.
