Fringe By The Sea is a 10-day, multi-arts, not-for-profit festival rooted in community and powered by creativity, connection and coastal charm in the seaside town of North Berwick, Scotland.

With community at its heart and a truly open-armed ethos, our diverse programme brings together internationally renowned artists, leading Scottish talent and exciting emerging voices, alongside a celebration of the many creatives on our own doorstep. It is a festival where global names and local stories share the same stage.

Set between a dramatic volcanic rock and a vibrant stretch of coastline, our festival hub in the tucked-away Lodge Grounds offers ten days of seaside escapism. Audiences are welcomed into a unique environment that blends culture, nature and hospitality in equal measure.

Each year, more than 260 events take place across music, comedy, theatre, literature, film, wellbeing, environmental programming and children’s shows, hosted in a variety of distinctive venues including The Big Top, Lodge Stage, The Dome and our lively, free-to-enter Festival Hub.

Alongside the performance programme, our much-loved Makers Market showcases exceptional arts and crafts from local and regional creatives, while our Street Food Village offers a diverse range of culinary delights, creating a vibrant social space for audiences, artists and visitors alike.

Welcoming over 103,000 visitors, Fringe By The Sea delivers a warm, inclusive festival experience while generating approximately £11 million in economic benefit for the local and regional economy. Through strong partnerships, community engagement and a commitment to sustainability and accessibility, the festival continues to grow as a cultural anchor for East Lothian and beyond.
