David Sclar earned a doctorate in History at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, and has held fellowships at Harvard University, Princeton University, the University of Oxford, the University of Toronto, New York University, and the Center for Jewish History. He taught Jewish history courses at Princeton and Toronto, and was the inaugural history teacher of Heichal HaTorah in 2013-14. His research combines Jewish social, religious, and intellectual history in the early modern period. He has published widely on Moses Hayim Luzzatto (Ramhal), the Portuguese Jewish community of Amsterdam, and Jewish book history. He also has extensive experience in library special collections and in curating museum exhibitions.
