Tonya Barnes has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Tonya currently works at FRSecure as a Key Account Manager since January 2023. Prior to this role, they served as an Operations Project Manager from May 2022 to January 2023 and as a Project Resource Manager from June 2021 to May 2022.
Outside of their current company, Tonya has also worked as a Choral Director for the East Central Minnesota Chorale since September 2013. Tonya served as the President of the Minnesota Music Educators Association from May 2019 to August 2022.
Tonya's experience in the education sector includes being the Director of Choral Activities at North Branch Senior High School from August 2014 to June 2021. In this role, they developed engaging lesson plans for in-person and virtual learning, managed large classrooms, and achieved state-level awards. Additionally, they were a Voice Teacher at Princeton Senior High School from March 2012 to June 2014 and a Choral Director at St. Francis High School from August 2007 to June 2010.

Tonya also worked as a Retail Sales Associate at All Things Diapers from March 2012 to August 2014, where they educated parents on cloth diapers and trained new hires.
Before joining the workforce, Tonya was a Private Voice Teacher from May 2002 to August 2014, offering voice lessons to private students. Tonya also served as the Director of Choral Activities at North-Linn Senior High School from August 2003 to May 2007.
Tonya Barnes has a diverse education history. In 1995, they obtained their High School Diploma from Melrose Secondary. Tonya then went on to attend Cornell College from 1999 to 2003, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Music with a focus on becoming a High School Music Teacher. Later, Tonya pursued further education at North Dakota State University from 2016 to 2020, where they completed their Master's in Music in the field of Music Education. In addition to their formal education, Tonya has also obtained various certifications throughout their career. In 2007, they obtained a Teacher License, Initial and Continuing from the Minnesota Department of Education. More recently, they have gained certifications in areas such as Sales: Customer Success, Business Fundamentals for Customer Success Managers, Customer Success Management Fundamentals, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate. These certifications were obtained from institutions such as LinkedIn and USF Corporate Training and Professional Education.
