Rob McCarthy has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Rob began their career as a Combat Engineer in the Army National Guard from 1982 to 1990, where they acquired skills in explosives, construction equipment operation, manual drafting, and general construction. After this, they worked as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army from 1989 to 1990.
Following their military service, McCarthy worked as a Structural Steel Detailer at L.B. Foster Company from 1997 to 1998. Rob was responsible for detailing sign and miscellaneous steel structures using AutoCAD R14, as well as setting up and implementing CAD standards. Rob then joined Karlsberger as a Senior Architectural Staff member from 1998 to 2000. In this role, they performed architectural drafting, coordinated with architects and production staff, and provided light design. McCarthy also assisted in creating and implementing new CAD standards while providing network support.
From 2000 to 2002, McCarthy worked at Quantapoint, Inc. as a Proposal Coordinator. Rob'sresponsibilities included estimating and preparing proposals for Existing Condition Documentation projects, as well as providing inside sales support. Rob utilized Microsoft Office software to compile existing data and create thorough proposal checklists and estimating programs.
McCarthy then worked as a Project Manager/Survey Specialist (as an independent contractor) at Existing Conditions Surveys, LLC / Lasertech ECD from 2002 to 2006. Rob was responsible for scheduling and managing existing condition documentation projects, as well as conducting fieldwork and transferring data into CAD files using AutoCAD 2006 and MicroStation V8.
Next, McCarthy joined Shremshock Architects as an Architectural Surveyor from 2006 to 2008. Rob'sduties included surveying buildings and retail spaces for tenant fit-out, preparing existing conditions documentation, and coordinating with building owners and property managers.
From 2008 to 2012, McCarthy worked as an Independent Contractor, where they served as an Architectural Surveyor. Rob'sresponsibilities included surveying buildings and retail spaces for tenant fit-out, preparing existing conditions documentation using AutoCAD 2010, and possessing knowledge of building codes, ADA, and BOMA.
Finally, McCarthy joined Facilities Survey, Inc. in 2012 and has held various roles since then. As a Field Engineer (Independent Contractor) from 2008 to 2012, they provided surveying services for buildings and retail spaces. Currently, McCarthy is the CAD Services Project Manager, responsible for managing client drawings and architectural building documentation. Rob incorporates these drawings into the company's CMS View, Space Manager, and Drawing Manager products using AutoCAD 2023 and Photoshop.
Throughout their career, Rob McCarthy has demonstrated strong project management skills, extensive experience in building infrastructure, and expertise in CAD software.
Rob McCarthy obtained an Associate in Specialized Technology Degree from Triangle Tech between the years 1995 and 1997. Rob studied Architectural Computer Aided Drafting and Design during their time at the institution.
