Ross MacFarlane

Ross Macfarlane serves as the Remote & Autonomous Operations Resource Centre Manager and Remote Operation Centre Manager at Fugro, where a focus is placed on enhancing offshore operations and fostering team development. With extensive experience in maritime autonomous surface ships (MASS), Ross has held various roles including program manager, USV policy advisor, and marine assurance officer, emphasizing safety and regulatory compliance. As a founding chairperson of MASS People and co-chair of the Maritime Autonomous Ships Special Interest Group at IMarEST, Ross actively contributes to shaping industry standards and training frameworks. Previous roles include project engineer and safety officer with Royal Caribbean Cruises, fleet training officer at Northern Marine Manning Services, and a background in deck cadet positions. Ross holds an HNC in Nautical Science from City of Glasgow College and is pursuing a BA (Honours) in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from The Open University.
