Basil Butt

Basil Butt has a diverse work experience in the fields of technology risk and controls, IT internal audit, and IT advisory. They started their career as a Junior Bookkeeper at Naafi Agro in 2007 and then worked as a Junior Auditor at Avais Hyder Liaquat Nauman Chartered Accountants in 2008. Later, they joined EY in 2012 and held various roles such as ITRA Trainee, IT Risk & Advisory Senior Consultant, and Manager in the IT Advisory and FSO ITRA departments. In 2020, Basil joined Amazon as an IT Internal Audit Manager, specializing in Alexa, Digital Devices, and Content. Currently, they are working at Fundrise as the Manager and Principal of Technology Risk & Controls. Basil holds certifications in CISA, CIA, CRISC, and ACCA.

Basil Butt has a diverse educational background. Basil completed their Master's degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University in 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Applied Accountancy from Oxford Brookes University in 2012. In the same year, they also achieved the qualification of Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors. Before pursuing their bachelor's degree, Basil Butt attended Skans School of Accountancy in 2010-2011 to earn qualifications in ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor). Their foundational education includes O & A-Levels in biology from Aitchison College Lahore, which they completed from 1992 to 2006. Additionally, they hold various certifications in the field, including Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and IRCA Certified ISO 27001:2013 Lead Auditor.
