Chao Zhang

Chao Zhang has extensive work experience in the technology industry. Their most recent position is Chief Technology Officer at Fuse Technologies, where they are responsible for strategic technology decisions. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Engineering at Block, overseeing engineering operations.

From 2018 to 2022, Chao worked at Afterpay as the Director of Engineering, leading risk and data science product engineering. Chao managed teams in multiple regions and was responsible for various aspects of risk management, payment recovery, and machine learning.

Before joining Afterpay, Chao served as an Engineering Lead at Uber from 2014 to 2018. Chao was responsible for leading engineering projects and teams.

Chao started their career at Microsoft, where they held the position of Senior Research SDE from 2011 to 2014. Prior to that, they interned at Microsoft Research Asia and Microsoft Research, where they designed and developed software and protocols.

Chao Zhang holds a PhD in Computer Science from New York University. Prior to earning their PhD, they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Chao also holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
