Chris George

Content Director at Future

Chris George has extensive work experience in the photography and publishing industry. Chris started their career as an Editorial Assistant at PJB Publications in 1984. Chris then worked as a Technical Editor at Camera Weekly magazine at Haymarket Publishing from 1985 to 1988. Chris later joined Reed Business Information as the Editor of What Camera magazine from 1988 to 1990. Chris then moved on to IPC Magazines, where they served as the Deputy Editor of Amateur Photographer from April 1990 to an unspecified date and as the Editor of Video Camera magazine from January 1990 to February 1995.

In 1996, Chris started their own company, Chris George Ltd, as a freelance journalist and editorial consultant. Chris worked with various clients and projects, including Daily Telegraph, Dorling Kindersley, Ilex Press, Future Publishing, BCB&, and Tarsus Publishing. During this time, they authored several books and contributed to magazines and websites.

Chris joined Future Publishing again in July 2007 as the Editor of PhotoPlus magazine. Under their leadership, the magazine gained an audited circulation of over 30,000 and won Future's Magazine of the Year award. Chris also launched and developed N-Photo magazine, the first newstand title for Nikon camera owners, and later became the Editor of Digital Camera magazine. Chris was responsible for the content and production of over a dozen "bookazines" a year as the Series Editor of PhotoMasterclass bookazines.

From 2014 to 2019, Chris held various roles at Future, including Editor of Digital Camera, Group Editor-in-Chief of the photography portfolio, and Content Director for Future's design and photography websites and magazines. In 2017, they also became the Content Director of Digital Camera World.

Chris joined Creative Bloq in May 2018 as the Content Director. In April 2019, they took on the additional role of Content Director at Future, where they continued to oversee their design and photography websites and magazines.

Chris George attended Durham University from 1981 to 1984, where they obtained a BA Hons degree in Philosophy & Psychology. Prior to that, they attended Kingswood School in Bath from 1973 to 1980.
