Thomas Fox

Thomas Fox has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and industries. Thomas started their career as a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow at the California Institute of Technology in 2007. Thomas then joined the University of Nottingham as a Mary Cannel Scholar, where they developed a lattice gas-based kinetic Monte Carlo model to simulate nanoscale structures.

In 2009, Thomas became a Software Engineer at Systems Engineering and Assessment, where they worked on developing submarine communications software. Thomas used ASP.Net framework with languages like C#, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, and XML for full-stack development.

In 2010, Thomas started their PhD journey at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, where they developed a numerical model to simulate shock wave generation in dense plasmas. Thomas published their findings in a highly reputed peer-reviewed journal and presented their work at national and international conferences.

After completing their PhD, Thomas worked as a Graduate Consultant, Consultant, and Senior Consultant at Edif ERA from 2015 to 2017. In these roles, they provided consulting services and leveraged their expertise in various projects.

In 2017, Thomas established their own company, Fox Smythe Limited, serving as its Director for a year. Following that, they joined RINA as a Senior Consultant, Principal Consultant, and eventually became the Head of Data Science & Analytics Space & Defence UK.

Thomas'smost recent position is the Head of Business Intelligence at Future, starting in July 2022. Thomas will transition into the role of Director of Business Intelligence in June 2023.

Thomas Fox has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Plasma and High-Temperature Physics from the University of York, earned between 2010 and 2014. Prior to that, they obtained an MSci degree in Physics with Theoretical Astrophysics from the University of Nottingham from 2005 to 2009.
