futureLAB is a Swiss GovTech company based in Winterthur. Since our founding in 2000, we have been digitalizing business processes and building highly scalable systems for managing digital content – starting in 2003 with Snapmania, an early online photo manager that offered secure storage, editing and organization long before «the cloud» went mainstream.

In 2005, we took the step into the policing world: Snapmania evolved into a professional digital evidence management solution for Switzerland’s largest municipal police force – the origin of Smartpolice.

Today, Smartpolice is a mature DEM platform for police and justice, used productively by around 50% of Swiss police forces as well as parts of one of the world’s largest police organisations. The solution covers the entire chain of evidence – from capture via a mobile app to court-proof storage – with a fully logged chain of custody and granular roles and permissions.

One key focus is efficient photo and video documentation directly from the field. Media is captured in a structured, case-related and seamless way, reducing rework and giving officers up to 10% more time for frontline duties. Smartpolice is multi-tenant, delivered as SaaS in sovereign European cloud environments and a genuine alternative to US-based DEM platforms.
