Jonathan Nicholls

Jonathan Nicholls is an experienced leader in higher education, currently serving as a Senior Higher Education Adviser at FutureLearn since August 2021, where responsibilities include enhancing the company's profile and forging new partnerships in online education. Previously, Jonathan held the role of Vice-Chancellor's Designate at The Open University, contributing to a significant £50 million investment in FutureLearn, and served as the Acting Secretary at The Open University, overseeing professional services and governance. Earlier positions include Director of Strategic and Policy Services at Shakespeare Martineau, Registrary at the University of Cambridge, Registrar and Secretary at the University of Birmingham, and Registrar at the University of Warwick, where a strong administrative foundation was built through roles that encompassed academic resource management and strategic development. Jonathan holds a PhD in Medieval English Literature from Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, and has further education credentials from Harvard University and the University of Bristol.
