Alexander Gelber has worked in various roles since 2003. Alexander began their career as a Research Assistant at the National Bureau of Economic Research in 2003. Alexander then worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the same organization in 2008. From 2009 to 2012, they were a Lecturer on Economics at Harvard University, an Assistant Professor at The Wharton School, a Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy and Acting Chief Economist at the US Treasury, and an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, Goldman School of Public Policy. In 2017, they were a Visiting Associate Professor at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. From 2018 to 2019, they were a Tenured Associate Professor (on leave) at the University of California San Diego. Alexander is currently a Co-Founder at FutureProof Technologies, where they work on building climate-smart insurance.
Alexander Gelber attended Harvard University from 1998 to 2003, where they earned an A.B. in Economics. Alexander then returned to Harvard University and completed their Ph.D. in Economics in 2008. Prior to that, they attended San Francisco University High School.
