FUTURESPACE is a Vienna-based research project exploring how European integration shapes Europe’s future in outer space—and how developments in space, in turn, shape Europe. It is led by Principal Investigator Nina Klimburg-Witjes, who has received a Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC)—one of Europe’s most prestigious awards for researchers.

The project brings together a multidisciplinary team of researchers and collaborators, currently including postdoctoral researcher Joseph Popper, PhD candidate Philipp Kürten, and student research assistants Hannah Schmalstich and Pepijn Deroo.

This research is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s (EU) Horizon Europe research and innovation programme (Grant Agreement No. 101076020).
