Sergio Contreras is a credentialed specialist at the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) since November 2023 and has been with FutureWater as a researcher-consultant since March 2013, focusing on scientific consulting and applied research in sustainable water resource management and ecosystem services. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral researcher position at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas from March 2010 to February 2013, where research centered on the hydrology of carbonate mountain systems, and a visiting researcher role at the Bureau of Economic Geology in 2009-2010. Earlier, Sergio served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas and worked in various roles at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas from January 2002 to July 2007, contributing to basic research in eco-hydrology and remote sensing. Sergio earned a PhD in Surface Processes and Geodynamics from Universidad de Almería in 2006, along with advanced studies and a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Environmental Sciences from the same institution.
