Alex brings an astute aesthetic skill for interpreting and implementing the design intent through the duration of each project. As an interface between the firm and the outside entities, he oversees the management of an entire project and serves as the final check that ensures every detail matches the high standards of quality.
Visiting Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim Museum as a teenager had a huge impact on Alex. After he took the elevator to the top and walked down the spiraling ramp to the ground floor, he was hit with the realization that the experience of walking through the building had become the building itself. Wright, he understood, had taken the usual back-and-forth walking of a museum experience and organized it, synchronizing it to a path. It is an insight from which he continues to draw.
Alex's decision-making acumen results in the superior cohesiveness of a building's design and systems, and his established organizational and drawing standards play a major role on many of the significant educational and institutional projects. Alex continues to mentor younger designers, instilling them with his high standards, believing that new, fresh expressions of architecture require an equal emphasis of craft and execution.
