With over eight years of experience, Patrick has been on the design team for several of the firm's high-profile educational and convention center projects. His attention to detail and ability to integrate the perspectives of a diverse range of collaborators support a productive collegial environment that advances projects seamlessly from design to construction.
Inspired by fond memories of early childhood visits to St. Louis to watch the Cardinals play—the city a startling contrast to the farm where he grew up—Patrick entered the architectural program at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There a tour of modernist houses introduced him to Bruce Goff's domed house of Quonset hut sections and black coal inset with sparkling clear stones that let in light—and the idea that great architecture does not need to be monumental in scope.
His grandfather, a potter, taught Patrick how important every detail is in giving material shape to a design. Inspired by his own pottery discipline, he complements the exploration of forms on paper with a deft coordination of the myriad factors that enable a building to take shape as well as a vibrant, sustainable built environment.
