Kyle Tate

Kyle Tate has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Kyle started their career as a Researcher at Victoria University of Wellington in 2011. In 2013, they worked as a Statistical Analyst/ Data Modeler at BC NDP. From 2013 to 2015, Kyle served as the Fundraising Coordinator and later as the Digital Director at the Green Party of Canada, where they focused on leading digital strategy, managing fundraising teams, and executing online fundraising campaigns.

In 2016, Kyle joined Shopify as a Business Intelligence Developer, where they cleaned, modeled, and analyzed various data sources to help users make data-driven decisions. Kyle then took on roles as a Senior Data Engineer and a Data Science Lead, where they led the risk-algorithms team, built predictive models, and evaluated risk and fraud. From 2018 to 2022, Kyle served as the Director of Data Science and later as the Lead Data Science and Engineering for Commerce Algorithms at Shopify, focusing on building algorithm-powered products.

In 2022, Kyle joined Taeron Systems Inc. as a Technical Advisor and Gadget as the Head of Data.

Kyle Tate completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Physics (Hon.) at the University of Victoria from 2005 to 2009. Kyle then pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics at the University of Waterloo from 2009 to 2010.
