The Gaitis - Simossi Museum, dedicated to the work of the painter Yannis Gaitis and the sculptress Gabriella Simossi, was established through the collaboration of the Municipality of Ios with Loretta Gaiti, the unique heir of the artists.

It is hosted in a building complex of rare architecture, designed by the architects Loretta Gaïtis and Jacques Charrat in order to house the Museum's permanent exhibition as well as temporary exhibitions and events.

It is built on the top of a hill, with a panoramic view of Chora and the port of Ios as well as the islands of Sikinos, Paros and Naxos, with the endless blue of the Aegean Sea as a background.
