Eric Wempen is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in tax and legal matters, currently serving as the Managing Director: Head of Tax at Galaxy since November 2024. Prior to this role, Wempen held the position of Managing Director: Head of Legal Acquisitions / Global Tax at Benefit Street Partners from 2015 to November 2024. Previous experience includes Senior Tax Counsel at AIG (2013-2015), General Counsel at Excalibur Ventures (2012-2013), and Head of Capital Markets Tax / Equities Counsel at UBS AG (2006-2012). Additionally, Wempen worked at Baker McKenzie as a Senior Associate (2004-2006) and served as a Senior Manager at KPMG LLP (1998-2004). Military service includes a tenure as a Captain in the US Army Reserves from July 1993 to April 2004, specializing in Infantry and Intelligence. Wempen holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, a J.D. from George Mason University - Antonin Scalia Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from UCLA.
