Becky Smith

Becky Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Becky currently holds the role of VP, Operational Strategy at Galecto, Inc. since January 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Project & Portfolio Management at Galecto, Inc. from June 2019 to January 2021.

In addition to their roles at Galecto, Inc., Becky has also been a Member of the Board of Trustees at Down Syndrome Education International since June 2019.

Before joining Galecto, Inc., Becky worked at GSK for a significant part of their career. Becky held various positions including Portfolio Director, Project Director, Project Manager, Exploratory Discovery Planner, and Research Scientist. Their tenure at GSK spanned from January 1996 to June 2019.

Prior to GSK, Becky worked as an ECMC Project Manager at Cancer Research UK for a period of six months in 2012.

Becky also has experience working as a Scientific Officer at The Wellcome Foundation Limited from September 1993 to December 1995, and as an Editor/Coder at Derwent Scientific Publications from October 1992 to September 1993.

Becky Smith completed their education at the University of Bristol, where they obtained a BSc degree in Biochemistry. Becky studied at the university from 1989 to 1992. In addition to their degree, Becky also obtained a certification in Project Management Professional (PMP®) from the Project Management Institute in August 2010.
