Joshua Steinman is a co-founder of Galvanick, a company that specializes in securing industrial operations by using a scalable, cloud-native analysis platform. Joshua is responsible for aggregating telemetry from clients' industrial environments and surfacing critical malicious behavior to industrial operators, helping them identify threats and minimize cyber risk. Prior to Galvanick, they worked as the Senior Director for Cyber Policy and Deputy Assistant to the President at the National Security Council, where they conceptualized and executed cyber and telecommunications policy for the United States. Additionally, Steinman has experience in strategy at ThinAir, serving as a reserve officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, and founding a side project called Penance Hall, which focused on American-made luxury socks. Joshua also served as a fellow at the National Defense University and worked as an officer in the US Navy, where they conceptualized and advocated for the creation of a "DOD Embassy" in Silicon Valley, leading to the implementation of DIUX by the Secretary of Defense. Steinman's earlier experience includes working as a researcher at the University of Chicago and as a counter-terrorism fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD).

Joshua Steinman began their education at Cranbrook Schools in 1987, where they completed their primary and secondary education. In 2002, they enrolled at the University of Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History in 2006. After a few years, Joshua pursued further education and attended Georgetown University from 2011 to 2014, obtaining a Master's degree in International Relations and National Security Studies. In 2004 and 2005, they spent a year at King's College London studying Imperial History and War Studies. In 2007, Joshua participated in the Desert Survival Semester at NOLS. Additionally, they engaged in a summer study program at Georgetown University focused on Al Qaeda in 2001. To enhance their entrepreneurial skills, Joshua attended the Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2015, where they received a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
