In 2003, Adam Ahmad had his first experience as a customer of a custom medical device component supplier. It was the first of countless experiences attempting to get a supplier to see what he saw and produce exactly what he needed. In 2011, he had his first experience on the other side of the table, providing custom solutions for customers. Then, in 2017, he founded his own company providing complex medical device design, development and manufacturing services to medical device companies of all sizes. After 23 years of being on both sides of custom medical device projects, he realized what was truly the “hard part” of these projects. It isn’t the designing or building. It’s the understanding of the customer’s vision. In a field where the product requirements go on for pages and pages, the solution-space is nearly infinite. Aligning two minds to see the same end-goal in this context is truly a superhuman feat.
