Diego Chacon

Senior Research Officer - Bioinformatics at Garvan Institute of Medical Research

Diego Chacon's work experience includes serving as a Senior Research Officer in Bioinformatics at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research since March 2021. They will also hold the role of Conjoint Lecturer at UNSW starting in March 2023. Prior to this, Diego was a Visiting Scholar, Tutor, and Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the University of Technology Sydney from April 2018 to February 2022. They were also a Researcher PhD Candidate at the Prince of Wales Clinical School at UNSW from March 2014 to March 2018. Additionally, Diego worked as a Visiting Student at the Stem Cell Group, Adult Cancer Program from June 2013 to December 2013, where they were actively involved in web development and database management of biological information related to cancer development.

Diego Chacon's education history starts with their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Telecommunications, which they obtained from Universidad Militar Nueva Granada from the year 2004 to 2008. Following that, they pursued further studies at The University of Queensland from 2009 to 2010, where they completed a program at the Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education and studied General English, EAP, and AECS. Diego then attended UNSW from 2011 to 2012 and earned a Master's Degree in Telecommunications. Diego continued their education at UNSW from 2014 to 2018, completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) in Medicine (Bioinformatics).
