Jem Murdoch

Visiting Scientist at Garvan Institute of Medical Research

Jem Murdoch has a diverse work experience, starting in 2015 as a waiter at Gourmet Burger Kitchen. In 2018, they interned in marketing at BURGER KING® UK. Continuing their academic journey, Jem became a PhD candidate in Molecular Biology/Parasitology at UNSW in 2022, while also working as a Biochemistry Lab Demonstrator starting in May 2023. Additionally, they were a visiting scientist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where they helped set up a malaria model and conducted research on the B cell response to surface antigens. Jem also gained experience as bar staff at The Dynamo between 2020 and 2022.

Jem Murdoch began their education in 2010 at Latymer Upper School, where they pursued a degree without a specified field of study. In 2017, they enrolled at the University of Bristol and completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Honors in Biomedical Sciences, focusing on the Cells and Molecules Pathway. Continuing their educational journey, Jem joined Imperial College London in 2020 for a Research Masters (MRes) in Molecular and Cellular Biosciences. Currently, they are set to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Biology at UNSW starting in 2022.
