Melissa Thomas is a Senior Researcher in the Cancer Epigenetics Laboratory at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and a Conjoint Lecturer at UNSW Medicine & Health. Currently, they focus on developing methylation-based tests for prostate cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring. Previously, as a Senior Scientist at Genetic Signatures Ltd, they developed molecular diagnostic assays for infectious diseases. With 25 years of experience in academia and industry, Melissa has a strong background in molecular diagnostics, cancer research, and project management. They earned a PhD from the University of Notre Dame Australia in 2017, specializing in DNA methylation biomarkers.
