Sabrina Yan has a diverse range of work experience. Sabrina is currently working as a Full-Stack Software Engineer at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research since 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Bioinformatics RA at the Children's Cancer Institute from 2019 to 2021. Sabrina also worked as a Computer Science and Engineering Tutor at UNSW from 2017 to 2021.
In 2017, Sabrina was a Summer Scholar at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, where they conducted research and development analyzing FitBit data and developed an R package called CardiacProfileR. Sabrina has also worked as a private tutor for high school students in maths and science from 2013 to 2017.
Additionally, Sabrina has held other roles including a Summer Intern at Quantium in 2016, a Website Developer at The Future Trends Group in 2016, and a Sales Assistant at Australian Geographic in 2015.
Sabrina Yan began their education in 2009 at Cheltenham Girls High School, where they completed their high school degree. In 2014, they enrolled in an online learning system called Rosalind, specializing in Biomathematics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology.
In 2015, Sabrina began their studies at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), completing a combined Bachelor and Masters degree in BEng(Bioinformatics)/M Biomedical Engineering. During the same period, they also pursued a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering at the UNSW Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering.
In February 2015, Sabrina obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera.
