Timothy Amos

Bioinformatics Software Engineer at Garvan Institute of Medical Research

Timothy Amos has extensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics and research. Timothy is currently employed as a Bioinformatics Software Engineer at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where they work in the Genome Technologies Group and focuses on working with Nanopore data, particularly single cell data. Prior to this, Timothy worked at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) from 2014 to 2019, holding positions as a Research Associate and a Research Assistant. Timothy also worked as a Bioinformatician at the Children's Cancer Institute for a brief period in 2014. Before joining UNSW, Timothy worked as a Research Assistant at UNSW from 2011 to 2014. Timothy'searliest work experience was as a Vacation Scholar at CSIRO in 2007, where they were involved in the development of a genome browser for comparing genes from different species.

Timothy Amos began their education at UNSW in 2003, where they pursued a degree in software and genetics. Timothy completed this dual degree program in 2008. Following this, they furthered their studies at UNSW by enrolling in a Master of Science program in Bioinformatics from 2009 to 2011.
