Gastein74 is a free research project by three friends and colleagues dealing with the "New Gastein Planning", which in 1974 created a new concept of place for the Gastein Valley in Salzburger Land, Austria.

In an unprecedented symbiosis of architecture, graphics and design, the pioneering architect Gerhard Garstenauer, the famous graphic designer Otl Aicher, the architect Kurt Ackermann and other actors created futuristic approaches to a New Gastein at the initiative of the mayor Anton Kerschbaumer.

Some of the planned buildings were built, and large parts of the appearance were realised. However, the planning was never completed and published. Large parts seem to have disappeared and are not known to the public. The reappraisal of these lost parts is the core task of this project
