Andrew Thron

Andrew Thron is an accomplished Application Scientist at Gatan Inc. since September 2021, with a robust background in materials science and engineering. Previous roles include Laboratory Manager and Project Scientist at the University of California, Davis, where oversight of the Nanofunctionality Research Lab involved advising graduate students, co-authoring grants, and studying defect mechanisms and solid-solid interfaces. Andrew also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, utilizing electron microscopy for optical property studies of nano-materials. Additional experience includes a Graduate Research Assistantship at UC Davis, guest research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and a Production Engineer position at Applied Physics Technologies. Andrew holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from UC Davis and a B.A. in Mathematics and Physics from Linfield University.
