Matt Walp has a diverse and extensive work experience in various industries and roles. Matt is currently the Director of Engineering & Product Strategy at Gates Corporation, where they lead a global team in developing new drive systems and technologies for various two-wheel mobility projects. Prior to this, Matt worked at Johns Manville as the Innovation Leader - Composites and New Business Innovation Leader, where they spearheaded the development and commercialization of thermoplastic composite technology and led front-end innovation processes. Matt also served as the Director of New Product Development at Anthony International, overseeing the global product development of commercial refrigerator door systems. Earlier in their career, Matt worked at Guardian Industries Corp. as the Manager of Advanced Product Applications and as a Senior Product Development & Applications Engineer. Matt was responsible for driving research and development of advanced glass products and applications for various markets. Matt also has experience working at PCC as a Program Manager - Medical Business Unit and as a 3D Printing Operations Manager. Furthermore, Matt worked at FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as a Materials Engineer, where they played a vital role in the development and implementation of new sheet materials for future vehicle programs.
Matt Walp received a Bachelor's degree in Material Science and Engineering from Michigan State University in 2001. Matt then pursued a Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, which they completed in 2003. Later, Matt obtained an MBA in Business & Administration from the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business, completing it in 2011.
