Grant Kao

Grant Kao is an accomplished game designer with extensive experience in the gaming industry. Currently serving as Associate Creative Director and Lead Game Designer at Gearbox Entertainment since January 2021, Grant leads design teams in shaping the vision for major game projects. Previously, as a Senior Game Designer at Gearbox, responsibility included crafting the narrative and progression architecture for a triple A title. Prior to that, Grant contributed to Riot Games in a senior design role, focusing on prototyping new projects before transitioning due to the pandemic. Grant's earlier experience at Gearbox Software involved designing character systems and combat mechanics for BattleBorn, and at America's Army/SAIC, Grant designed an immersive military experience. Educational qualifications include a Professional Certificate in Digital Games Development from Southern Methodist University and a BS in Finance from George Mason University.
