Phil Newman currently serves as the Chief Engineer of Powertrain Electronic Control System Development at GEELY, where responsibilities include managing teams focused on both new energy and traditional internal combustion engine/hybrid applications since September 2019. Prior to this, Phil held significant roles at SAIC Motor UK Technical Centre Limited, including Head of PTEC and Senior Manager of Powertrain Integration, overseeing calibration engineers and system integration for European products under the MG car brand. Phil's experience also includes a tenure at Jaguar Land Rover as a Project Engineer, where contributions were made to advanced diesel projects and novel technology research. Earlier career milestones include positions as a Calibration Engineer at AVL, Diesel Engineer at Delphi, Diesel Performance and Emission Calibration Engineer at Perkins Engines, and service with the British Army in competitive tendering and field trials. Educational qualifications feature an MSc in Automotive Technology Management from Cranfield University and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Surrey.
