Senior Product Development Manager at Gemline

David Learn, CAS has a diverse and extensive work experience. David started their career in 2000 at Pratt & Whitney as a Product Cost Engineer, where they supported design-to-cost efforts on multiple commercial jet engine programs. David then worked as an Assist. Coordinator at the Center for Teaching & Learning in China from 2004 to 2005, where they trained and led English teachers and facilitated communication between teachers, schools, and the Shenzhen Education Bureau.

In 2007, David became an Independent Consultant for Vendor Coordination & QC, where they helped to reduce failure rates and testing time during the pre-production phase by facilitating communication between Chinese vendors and German designers. Additionally, they worked at PassageMaker Sourcing Solutions from 2007 to 2013 as the Director of Sourcing & New Product Development. In this role, they managed accounts with customers globally, handled sourcing and supplier management, and implemented drastic reorganization to improve work flow and increase individual accountability. David also established successful pro bono programs to help foreign charitable organizations source and manufacture in China and implemented SOPs to improve supplier performance and customer satisfaction.

From 2013 to 2015, David worked at Reveal as a Content Marketing & Social Marketing Manager, as well as a freelance photographer. In 2016, they co-founded Greatest Inc, and in the same year, they worked as the Business Operations Manager at China Car Service, overseeing all aspects of daily operations and implementing improvements across various business units.

David'smost recent role is at Gemline, where they are currently serving as the Senior Product Development Manager since November 2017.

David Learn, CAS has a diverse and extensive education history. In 1994, they began their undergraduate studies at Penn State University, where they pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering. David successfully completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering in 1999.

After completing their undergraduate studies, David furthered their education in the field of International Management. From 2000 to 2002, they attended Rensselaer at Work, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in International Management.

In 2004, David embarked on a Mandarin Chinese Intensive Course at Peking University. Although they did not receive a specific degree, this experience provided him with a strong foundation in the Mandarin Chinese language.

Additionally, in 1999, David briefly studied Mechanical Engineering and the German language at RWTH Aachen University.

David's educational journey began at Apollo-Ridge High School, where they completed their secondary education from 1990 to 1994.

Continuing their pursuit of knowledge, David attended the University of Exeter Business School in 2022, participating in The Circular Economy Masterclass, earning a degree in the subject.

Aside from formal degrees, David has obtained various certifications throughout their career. Noteworthy certifications include Circular Fashion: Design, Science, and Value in a Sustainable Clothing Industry from Wageningen University & Research in April 2022, Certified Advertising Specialist from PPAI - Promotional Products Association International in June 2020, Trained Advertising Specialist from PPAI - Promotional Products Association International in February 2020, Fabric Analysis - Knits & Wovens from COTTONWORKS, INC. in March 2019, Content Marketing from HubSpot in March 2017, and Inbound Certification from HubSpot in March 2017.
