Brad Friedman

Brad Friedman is a distinguished bioinformatics scientist leading a team at Genentech, where they focus on using computational biology to advance research in neurodegenerative diseases. Since 2023, Brad has held the title of Distinguished Scientist, contributing significantly to understanding disease biology and developing therapeutic strategies. Previously, they served as a Sr. Principal Scientist and a Computational Biologist at Genentech, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University, where their research centered on gene expression related to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Brad holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Piano Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
