David Konerding

David Konerding is a Senior Principal Machine Learning Engineer at Genentech, where the focus is on building large-scale infrastructure for training and inference since June 2021. Prior to this role, David served as a Staff Software Engineer at Google from November 2013 to June 2021, developing globally distributed infrastructure for scientific computing. David also held positions as a Senior Lead Data Engineer at insitro and a Senior Software Engineer at Google, specializing in high throughput data engineering for machine learning drug discovery and scientific computing infrastructure, respectively. Earlier experience includes roles as a Senior System Architect at Genentech and a Computer Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where David contributed to the development of Computational Grid Middleware. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Biophysics from the University of California, San Francisco, and a B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
