Jorge Tavel

Jorge Tavel is the Executive Group Medical Director at Genentech, bringing over 25 years of experience in clinical research and global drug development. They have held significant roles, including Senior Advisor for Medicine and Public Health to the Vice President of the United States, and Deputy Division Director at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. At Genentech, Jorge has led the development of first in human studies for various therapeutic areas, including infectious diseases and autoimmune conditions. They earned their MD from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Currently, they are pursuing an Internal Medicine Residency at Georgetown University.
