Ruth Atherton

Ruth Atherton, PhD, JD, is a seasoned legal and business advisor known for their expertise in risk management, corporate compliance, and complex transactions within the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. They currently serve as Senior Counsel Specialist and Assistant General Counsel at Genentech, while having held leadership roles as Chief Legal Officer at both The Commons Project Foundation and Chronomics. Ruth has an extensive background in legal support for multinational organizations, including time as Associate and Deputy General Counsel at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where they advised on global health initiatives. Ruth earned their law degree from Fordham University School of Law, achieving Dean's List honors.
