Franco Urlini

Group Chief P&C & Reinsurance Officer at Generali

Born in Trieste (Italy), Franco joined Generali in 1988 as Property Underwriter in the Corporate & Commercial segment, becoming Chief Underwriter for the Multinational business in 1992; he served then from 1999 at the Group Planning and Control and subsequently took the responsibility of Area Manager for Belgium, Netherlands, UK and Employee’ Benefits at the Group Head Office.

Since 2003 he assumed various responsibilities in the technical area which included P&C, Life, Reinsurance and International Affairs, being appointed Group Technical Insurance Officer in 2008.

In 2013 became Head of Group Reinsurance and R&D, enlarging the responsibility to Life Reinsurance in 2014.

He is the Chairman of the General Insurance Committee of the Insurance Europe Federation since 2013.

Franco graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Trieste in 1986, with specialization in Industrial Plants.

After his service as Naval Engineering Officer in 1986, Franco began his professional career in the steel plants and steel-making machines manufacturer Danieli &C. in 1987 as Proposal Engineer.
